Teams of 7-10 register in one of 15 divisions from U-10 boys and girls to adult men's, women's and coed divisions
Cost is $160 youth (U-16(*NEW) and under) and $250 for adult (16 and older)
Deadline is July 23, 2008
To register: Website: www.mysportstournament.com/beachblast
Email: beachsoccer@shaw.ca
Phone: 604.818.2845
Additional information. . .
The Beach Soccer Blast gives soccer players the unique chance to combine their sport with one of summer time’s most popular hangouts – the beach. A soft, forgiving surface allows seasoned players to dazzle fans with diving headers and bicycle kicks, while new comers to the sport have a ball in this fast-paced, small-sided version of the world’s most played game.
More than 150 teams will descend on Vancouver’s shores to take part in Canada’s largest and North America’s second largest beach soccer gathering. The Tournament atmosphere is electric as the event’s 8 fields are set-up in a row along the beach, keeping our 1,500 participants and 2,000 spectators in a tight knit area, filled with soccer action, sun, surf and sand.
Teams consist of 7-10 players. There are fifteen divisions of play incorporated into the Beach Blast from U10 (born in 1999) boys and girls, to men’s, women’s and co-ed recreational and competitive divisions. Youth teams (under the age of 16 as of January 1, 2009) may specify their level of play in order to incorporate Metro, Gold, Silver and Bronze/House levels into the youth portion of the tournament. Where possible, we will break out the levels when scheduling the round-robin portion of the games for the youth divisions.
Beach soccer is played 5 on 5 in soft sand. Teams participate in a minimum of three half hour matches. No shinpads or cleats are permitted, substitutions are made on the fly and kick-ins are used rather than throw-ins. The pitch is about 1/3 the size of a regular soccer field and a regulation size soccer ball is used. We also want to ensure participants, supporters and volunteers can enjoy a competitive and fun atmosphere, asking them to remember to ‘Play Fair’.
Working hard to organize the tournament with our sponsors and volunteers we aim to provide the best we can for the participants. All the extras will be laid out for participants including complimentary water and physio services for any nicks and injuries, a complimentary Domino’s Pizza snack for U16 participants and a complimentary Saturday Afternoon Energy Booth (with juice, bagels, fruit and cookies) for participants 16 and older. Umbro prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams in each division with additional prizing contributed by more of our amazing sponsors.
The registration fee for youth teams (U10 - U16) is $160, teams U16 and older are $250 per team. The final deadline for registration is July 23, 2008. All prices in Canadian dollars with taxes included. Please register soon as the Beach Blast has filled all divisions every year since it’s inception and is expected to sell out again. Additional information is available on our website at www.mysportstournament.com/beachblast or if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to call me at 604.818.2845 or email us at beachsoccer@shaw.ca.

2nd ATV Raffle about to begin!
22/05/08 19:39 Filed in: Fundraiser
This is to notify everyone that we now have the
tickets for the 2nd annual ATV raffle.
The winning ticket will be drawn at the fall fair.
OHMSA volunteers plan to haul the ATV around town again to prominent locations ( e.g. In front of Safeway and Safe-on Foods ) where you can then purchase tickets.
The tickets will be sold for $5.00 each and are in books of 25.
For those interested in helping out selling tickets for this fundraising event:
We encourage you to sell some tickets to friends and family so we can all take part in this fund raising event for the new “Soccer Park”.
Our primary location will be outside the Cariboo Mall's Liquor Store entrance again on Friday afternoons (3:30pm – 6:00pm) and Saturdays (2:00pm – 6:00pm).
Thanks to the Mall and Safeway staff that allowed us to set up there again.
Anybody interested to take a shift please e-mail Werner. I will have a schedule set up. Again, it would be nice to share the “fun”.
Anybody interested in taking a book to sell also please e-mail Werner and he will make arrangements to get it to you.
